After seeing the bird through them that morning, Krennick had felt like she was trying to tell them something, "that we were going to be okay here. Krennick reminds his children that their mother had told him that she was giving him the binoculars so that he would always see what's coming. Outside, Krennick shows his daughter through a pair of binoculars a middle-spotted woodpecker pecking at a tree. Sam and Ben are disappointed that their father has to leave, and he has them follow him to show them something. Krennick tells them that Sergeant Brenner thinks that it's probably just a faulty wire and he'll get it taken care of. Sam and Ben suggest that Krennick get the mic fixed because the voice that comes out of it will creep people out. Ben calls the one-way mirror creepy which Krennick explains allows him to keep an eye on things while he's in meetings. The two are frightened by a man yelling at them over the loudspeaker which turns out to be a practical joke by their father, Major General Krennick of the U.S. In a flashback to 12 years ago, Sam and Ben Krennick explore what will eventually become Padre's interrogation room on the island. Shrike arrives, interrupting their conversation and, recalling that she left Madison once at the stadium and Madison had saved them all, June refuses to leave her again and promises to be right beside Madison until the end. However, June is reluctant as every good thing that's she's tried to do at PADRE has blown up in her face which Madison knows all too well personally. If June doesn't do this, Shrike will, and Madison's chances of the cure working are better with June.Īfter a moment, Madison asks June to find a file on the island containing the real names and where they were taken of the kids that Madison had kidnapped and keep Madison's promise to Mo to track down their parents.

June admits that anything's possible, but Finch seems to be responding to the radiation, although it hasn't even been a week since he was bitten. June suggests that that's why Shrike was collecting Madison's blood: she thinks that Alicia's survival was due to more than the radiation, that there was something genetic that Madison, as her mother, might also share. Looking at the walker head, Madison realizes that Shrike wants to test it on her.

Madison asks what is going to happen next and June reluctantly explains that, although June had done everything that she could to put Shrike off, Shrike has ideas on how to heal walker bites based on Alicia surviving a walker bite for as long as she did.

June had thought that Madison was dead until Shrike just gave her Madison's records. Left alone, Madison accuses June of being a part of PADRE too and the one who had her blood drawn for years, but June explains that she wasn't responsible for the blood draws, and that she isn't working for PADRE by choice. Stating that Padre wants her back at the island, the guard orders June to get Madison ready. The guard is surprised that Madison and June know each other which Shrike didn't mention. Two more guards lead June in and Madison recognizes her as Naomi, which June states was a long time ago. Madison questions how long she is going to be kept her, and the guard reveals that PADRE has gone beyond studying her blood, but it will be easier for Blue Jay to explain that. A guard notices that she's awake and apologizes for the sedative, telling Madison that it's easier that way. Madison awakens tied to the operating table in the train lab with a hooded walker head growling at her from the extension device. Mo's hunt to prove PADRE's true intentions has her in over her head as she's drawn into the larger web of secrets.
